Hi I'm Erin!
American Engineer Turned Glacier Guide
In 2023, I decided to take a solo trip to Iceland and it changed the course of my entire life. Before that trip, I was working as an electrical engineer in the US, but in October 2023 I came home and told my friends and family that I would be moving to Iceland to pursue glacier guiding.
The year that followed was full of twists and turns, learning crucial guiding skills while still working full-time as an engineer and taking two more trips to Iceland to obtain my glacier guide certification, but in August 2024 it all paid off and I officially moved to Iceland.
Since then, I have lived in four different towns across the country, guided on two different glaciers, and started my own company, Dream Travel Iceland.
How did I get the idea for Dream Travel Iceland?
My Iceland journey actually started in 2021 when I planned a two week roadtrip around the country for me and my friends. I basically turned the trip planning into my entire personality. I read hundreads of articles, researched hotels and tours, and managed to put together an itinerary to see the entire ring road, Snæfellsnes, and the West Fjords in just 12 days.
On that trip is when my love for Iceland truly began. The guides I met on that trip originally gave me this crazy idea of dropping my whole life to become a glacier guide. At that time, it wasn't feasible for me personally but fast-forward to my trip in 2023 and I was sold. I started Dream Travel Iceland because I know how life changing a trip to Iceland can truly be and I want to bring that to as many people as possible.
What Makes My Services Unique
Local expertise
After traveling to Iceland multiple times myself and living here for two years in four different towns, I have found little hidden gems across the country that you won't find in most top-10 lists.
Deep knowledge of Icelandic tourism
I have been studying tourism in Iceland for two years. That means I have dived deeper than your traditional travel blogs to understand the nuances of the industry.
Safety you didn't think about
Icelandic nature is no joke. Your trip plan includes special considerations for weather, navigating unfamiliar landscapes, and where it's best to have an experienced guide.
Logical itineraries
My engineering background helps me see the big picture and organize your itinerary to give you the best possible experience without doubling back or wasting time at overcrowded spots.
Information you can trust
Conditions in Iceland can change in an instant so having the most up to date information is imperative. Outdated travel blogs and AI often fail big time on this one.
True consideration of your needs
Every trip planning service includes a video call where I get to know you and your personal travel style. This helps me tailor your itinerary to your specific preferences.
